FIRST BLOG POST

Oh hello there!

Welcome to this blog, one of the many within the sea of internet. My name is Thu, pronounced as the number two, to, too. I think you get my point. While other blogs are meant to be a platform for otherwise silent voices, this blog is brought to you by the Communication department at Western Washington University. More specifically, Communication 350: emerging technology.
Obviously, this is an assignment. I know, sorry to my thousands and thousands of fans out there reading this.

For this blog entry, I have to talk about blogging, personal branding and Photoshop. I personally have blogged a few times in the past, both recreationally and for scholarly reasons. Just recently, I’ve been exposed to the idea of personal branding and how much it is emphasized for American students. Also, it seems like the industry is flooded with those trying to compete who has the better brand.

Now, I personally have no idea how to brand myself, but Forbes  did an amazing job summarizing how to successfully do it in seven steps. I honestly agree with everything except the website domain. With the multiple platforms available, I am not sure if a personal website will be needed. However, I may be just speaking from a cheap standpoint, and do not really want to invest the time and money in securing a personal domain.

Here is a video to help your personal branding if the Forbes list was not helpful enough:

For Photoshop, I’ve a little experience here and there, mainly in high school during my sophomore year. However, we never edited things too crazy since we were the yearbook committee. I had more experience with InDesign, but Photoshop always interested me. Recently, we have been dabbling with the program in class. I did not get to watch a video, but I wanted to try the miniature effect. Maybe you can try it instead!

That is a bit of a summary of what we did in Communications 350 so far! Here is a video of Lin-Manual Miranda singing Hamilton at the White House. A certain professor turned me to the dark side, back to musical theatre.
